Two IHU History Faculty Members Contribute to the 3rd International Congress on Ottoman Studies
The 3rd International Congress on Ottoman Studies (OSARK) will be held in Istanbul between the 7-9th of September this year, with the participation of two faculty members from the History Department at Ibn Haldun University.

Prof. Suraiya Faroqhi and Dr. M. Fatih Çalışır will be presenting papers at the congress, along with 250 other scholars representing various Turkish and international universities.

Prof. Suraiya Faroqhi will be contributing to a panel entitled “The City in the Ottoman Empire: Governance and Identity” with her paper, “Istanbul as an Eighteenth-Century Capital: Commonalities and Peculiarities”. As a prominent name in Ottoman studies, she will be also participating in the closing session of the congress to evaluate the current trends and discussions in the field.

Dr. M. Fatih Çalışır will be also presenting his “Analysis of the Fazıl Ahmed Pasha Manuscript Collection within the Contexts of Patronage Relations and Intellectual Networks” paper at a panel dedicated to the manuscript collection of Fazıl Ahmed Pasha, a prominent grand vizier from the Köprülü family in the seventeenth-century Ottoman history.
