IHU part-time Instructor Assoc. Prof. M. Fatih Çalışır will be using the 2024-2025 academic year to pursue a research project on early modern Ottoman science at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES).

Assoc. Prof. M. Fatih Çalışır, who for long has been closely associated with and teaching in the Department of History at Ibn Haldun University, will be using the 2024-2025 academic year to pursue a research project on early modern Ottoman science at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES).

Prof. Çalışır’s research focuses on the scientific interactions between the Ottoman Empire and Europe in the Early Modern Era. It will be funded by a prestigious TUBITAK 2219 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, and supervised by Prof. Cemal Kafadar and Prof. Hannah Marcus.
