Magic and the Search for Harmony: Rethinking the ‘Scientific Revolution’

The Department of History at Ibn Haldun University will host Dr. Ovanes Akopyan as part of its “History Talks / Fall ’25” seminar series. The event, titled “Magic and the Search for Harmony: Rethinking the ‘Scientific Revolution’,” will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 14:00 in SHSS-B.50. The seminar aims to reassess the long-established narrative of the period commonly referred to as the “Scientific Revolution” in early modern Europe. In particular, it focuses on how early modern scholars sought hidden orders in the universe through the study of the stars, and seeks to highlight the scientific as well as cultural and intellectual implications of this pursuit.
